O intuito deste trabalho foi de avaliar o grau de satisfação dos pacientes frente à apresentação do sistema magnético instalado com pólos invertidos resultando na repulsão das Próteses Totais. Considerando a subjetividade da análise das informações prestadas pelo paciente, propusemos também a compreensão da atividade dos músculos masseter e temporal anterior considerando a especificidade do estudo eletromiográfico de superfície na avaliação objetiva da musculatura. Participaram desta pesquisa onze pacientes idosos portadores de Próteses Totais superiores e inferiores que tiveram os magnetos com resultante de repulsão instalados em suas próteses, e foram avaliados mediante aplicação da VAS (Visual Analogic Scale) para investigação da satisfação e EMG para avaliação do comportamento muscular, em três momentos distintos: antes da instalação dos magnetos, imediatamente após a instalação e após 30 dias da instalação, sendo que em cada um destes momentos foram avaliadas as situações de repouso, contração isométrica máxima voluntária (CIMV), mastigação, fonação. A análise estatística dos dados obtidos mediante o estudo mostrou que os pacientes apresentaram-se satisfeitos com o sistema de repulsão magnético, apresentando índice de significância para avaliação da retenção da Prótese Total inferior (p< 0,001), e para as condições de mastigação (p=0,018) e fonação (p=0,034), sendo que no estudo eletromiográfico dos músculos avaliados não houve significância para os dados coletados para a amostra estudada. Estes dados possibilitaram concluir que o sistema de repulsão magnético incorporado às Próteses Totais, possibilitou maior satisfação dos pacientes e não interferiram na atividade dos músculos masseter e temporal anterior.

The purpose of this study was to assess the degree of patient satisfaction compared to presentation of the system installed with magnetic poles reversed resulting in repulsion of Comple Dentures. Considering the subjectivity of the analysis of information provided by the patient, also understanding the proposed activity of the masseter and anterior temporal considering the specificity of the study surface electromyography in objective evaluation of muscle. Participated in this study eleven elderly patients with upper and lower dentures that had the magnets with repulsion resulting installed on your prostheses, and were evaluated by applying the VAS (Visual Analogic Scale) for investigation of satisfaction and EMG to evaluate muscle behavior, into three distinct periods: before installation of the magnets, immediately after installation and after 30 days of installation, and in each of these moments were evaluated both at rest, maximum voluntary isometric contraction (CIMV), mastication, speech. Statistical analysis of data obtained through the study showed that patients were satisfied with the system of magnetic repulsion, with a significance level for the evaluation of retention Denture lower (p <0.001), and conditions of chewing (p = 0.018) and speech (p = 0.034), and the electromyographic study of muscles tested there was no significance to the data collected for the sample. These data allow to conclude that the magnetic repulsion incorporated into the denture, allowed a higher satisfaction of patients and did not affect the activity of masseter and anterior temporal muscles.
