The purpose of this study was to evaluate whether there is a difference in bond strength between a soft liner based on acrylic resin, Coe Soft (GC America), increased with different concentrations of whole propolis powder, with the acrylic resin Lucitone 550(Dentsply). It was verified the kind of fails occurring, if they were cohesive, adhesive or mixed. 48 test objects were built in a muffle specially made for this kind of test. Each test object was made of two samples of acrylic resin (5x8 mm), that after being deflasked were linked in one of its ends by the soft liner, with or without propolis. The size of each test object totalized 5x16 mm, between them there were 3 mm of soft liner. The test objects were divided into four groups (n=12). At the first group (control) only Coe Soft was used. At the second one it was used Coe Soft and 75 mg of propolis. Already the third and fourth groups Coe Soft received respectively 150 mg and 300 mg of propolis. These object tests were taken to a universal experiment machine (EMIC DL-200) for the union traction resistance test, where the rupture strength among samples was measured, and it was also measured the type of fracture: cohesive, adhesive or mixed. The data obtained were analyzed descriptive and inferentially by means of analyses of variance, the one criteria used demonstrated the existence of significant differences among the groups related to the union resistance values, by traction, between the acrylic resin and the soft liner with or without propolis (p<0,0001).The Tukey test revealed that the control group and the one of 75 mg had the same results. Related to the one with 150 mg the data showed inferior values of union resistance, and the group of 300 mg these values were intermediate with little significant difference between the 150 mg group and the control group and 75 mg. Related to the kind of fails, predominated the cohesive failures. The control group and the one of 75 mg showed the same failures: 91,7% cohesive and 8,3% adhesive. The group of 150 mg, occurred only cohesive failures. The group of 300 mg occurred mixed failures (33,3%), cohesive (58,4%) and adhesive (8,3%). It is concluded that the group of 75 mg were the same values with regard to the type of failure and tensile strength to the union than the control group, may be considered the most suitable concentration, whereas has not changed the properties of soft denture liner.
