A técnica cirúrgica da coronectomia vem sendo muito ultilizada em casos onde o nervo alveolar inferior está em intimo contato com as raízes de um terceiro molar inferior incluso, evitando assim lesões neurais causadas durante uma exodontia do referido elemento, tendo como resultado uma parestesia dessa região. Deste forma, o objetivo deste estudo é apresentar um caso clínico relacionado à técnica, discutindo as vantagens e os seus cuidados relacionados. A coronectomia consiste em um primeiro ato cirúrgico para a remoção da coroa do dente incluso. Após esse procedimento haverá uma migração das raízes, tornando-as mais distantes do nervo em questão evitando que ele possa ser lesado durante a segunda intervenção, caso seja indicada. Diante dos dados apresentados, conclui-se que a coronectomia é uma técnica viável para prevenir injurias ao nervo alveolar inferior.

The surgical technique called coronectomy has been very useful in the last few years in cases where the inferior alveolar nerve is in close contact with the roots of a third impacted molar, thus preventing neural injuries caused during an extraction of this element, resulting in a paresthesia in that region. Therefore, the aim of this study is to describe a case report with the advantages and another details about this procedure. The coronectomy consists of a first surgical procedure for the removal of the crown of the impacted tooth. After this procedure there will be a migration of the roots, making the most distant point of the nerve in that it can avoid being damaged during the surgery, if indicated. From the data presented, we concluded that the coronectomia is a viable technique to prevent injuries to the inferior alveolar nerve.
