A radiopacidade é uma das propriedades físicas requeridas para os materiais obturadores endodônticos pela qual se avalia a qualidade da obturação do sistema de canais radiculares. As especificações de radiopacidade de materiais obturadores foram avaliadas de acordo com a norma padrão ISO 6876/2001. Para a análise da radiopacidade, 10 placas acrílicas foram confeccionadas com seis furos, cada um com 10,0 mm de diâmetro e 2,0 mm de espessura e preenchidos com três marcas de gutas-perchas e três cimentos endodônticos. Imagens radiográficas digitais dos espécimes foram importadas do software Digora for Windows versão 1.51. Uma escala de alumínio foi utilizada como um instrumento de medição da densidade radiográfica na comparação das amostras, e o valor da radiopacidade foi determinado de acordo com essa densidade radiográfica (mm Al). Os resultados foram analisados estatisticamente por ANOVA e complementados por Tukey. Os graus de radiopacidade das gutas-perchas demonstraram diferenças estatisticamente significantes (p<0,005). Os valores das médias em ordem decrescente foram Dentsply (13,60±0,423); Odous De Deus (12,85± 0,094) e Tanari (12,76±0,231). A guta-percha foi eleita como material controle. Os cimentos testados apresentaram diferenças estatisticamente significativas entre eles (p<0,005). Os valores da radiopacidade dos cimentos em ordem decrescente foram os seguintes: AHPlus (15,03±0,810), Pulpcanal Sealer (12,34±0,255) e MTA Fillapex(11,42±0,188). A radiopacidade da guta-percha (13,60 ±0, 0,423) foi menor que a do AHPlus, e maior do que os cimentos Pulpcanal Sealer (12,34±0,255) e MTA Fillapex (11,42±0,188). Concluiu-se que o cimento AH Plus e a guta-percha Dentsply apresentaram os melhores resultados em relação a radiopacidade. Todos os materiais testados preencheram os requisitos de radiopacidade das normas ISO 6876.
Radiopacity is one of the physical properties required for endodontic filling materials by which to evaluate the quality of the obturation of root canals. The specifications of the radiopacity of endodontic materials were evaluated according to the standard ISO 6876/2001. For the analysis of radiopacity, 10 acrylic plates were prepared with six holes, each with a diameter of 10.0 mm and 2.0 mm thickness filled with three brands of gutta-percha and three sealers. Digital radiographic images of the specimens were imported from the Digora software for Windows version 1.51. An aluminum step wedge was used as a measuring instrument. The comparison of the radiographic density of the samples, and the amount of radiopacity was determined according to this radiographic density (mm Al). The results were statistically analyzed by ANOVA and complemented by Tukey testing. The degrees of radiopacity of the guttas- perchas showed statistically significant differences (p < 0.005). The average values in descending order were: Dentsply (13.60 ± 0.423); Odous De Deus (12.85 ± 0.094) and Tanari (12.76 ± 0.231). The gutta-percha was chosen as the control material. The cements tested showed statistically significant differences between them (p<0.005). The values of the radiopacity of the cements in descending order were: AH Plus (15.03 ± 0.810), Pulp Canal Sealer (12.34 ± 0.255) and MTA Fillapex (11.42 ± 0.188). The radiopacity of the gutta-percha (13.60 ± 0. 0.423) was smaller than the AH Plus, and greater than the Pulp Canal Sealer (12.34 ± 0.255), and MTA Fillapex (11.42 ± 0.188) cements. It was concluded that the AH Plus sealer and Dentsply gutta-percha showed the best results regarding the radiopacity. All materials tested met the requirements of radiopacity of ISO 6876/2001.
