The difficulty of preparing flattened root canals is clear in clinical practice. Aimed at finding solutions to this fact, this study has the objective of evaluating, histologically, the quality of apical preparation, which is promoted by nickel titanium instruments from different generations, in flattened roots of forty-one lower incisor, which is divided in seven groups, which three of them are with the kinematics of lateral pressure against the walls (1)GPPL: Profile®, (3)GEPL: EndoSequence®, (5)GRPL: Reciproc®; three with movements of penetration and removal: (2)GP: Profile®; (4)GE: EndoSequence®, (6)GR: Reciproc®; and a control group without preparation: (7)GC. The groups were prepared until 40.04 instrument of working length. The 3mm root apices of the teeth were sectioned and submitted to decalcification for histological preparation. Slides were examined and photographed with 40X increasedand submitted to valuation. The images were analysed to determination of result through a valuation device by octants, which has shared the canal into eight sections allowing the valuation of touching in walls and attribution of scores from zero to 3, according to the amount of the wall that was touched. Groups and walls were compared, and walls with walls. Data were analysed through descriptive statistics and nonparametric tests by Friedman, Kruskal Wallis and Dunn. The level of significance adopted was 5%. SAS and Bioestat statistic programs were used. The results have showed that the instruments when compared to each other haven't touched the walls of the canal and there wasn't statistically significant difference, demonstrating the equivalence between them without interference of applied kinematics, independent of the wall. When the most critical scores are grouped (0 e 1) together, also for all groups together, approximately 71% of the specimens aren't prepared in the buccal and lingual wall; 43,3% in the mesial and 41,7% in the distal. Accordingto the medology that was carried out, I've come to the conclusion that no technic has touched all the walls of the canal to 3mm apex in different kinematics that were submitted to a test and the most common is of the walls that weren't touched by instruments.
