Temporomandibular disorders (TMD) defined as a group of disorder conditions that involve masticatory muscles, the temporomandibular joints (TMJ) and associated structures. Some studies have shown that muscle pain in the neck region and headaches are often associated with TMD. The aim of this study was to assess the frequency of individuals with TMD, with TMD and neck pain (correlating with demographics of gender and age group) and to compare treatment time between the two groups. For this, a sample of two hundred medical records was surveyed at the Department of Temporomandibular Disorders and Orofacial Pain of the Centro de Estudos Odontológicas São Leopoldo Mandic - Campinas SP. Data were tabulated and analyzed using Student's t-test. The results showed that the female gender was the most prevalent, corresponding to 78% of the group without neck pain and 89% of the TMD/cervicalgia group, aged between 41 and 50 years old and significantly longer treatment time in the group affected by TMD and neck pain. It is concluded, therefore, that the majority of the patients treated were female, with a predominant age group between 41 and 50 years old in both groups and that, in relation to the time of treatment, the group with TMD/cervicalgia needed more sessions to remission of symptoms and, consequently, control TMD.
